Leigh Matthews

“Everyone is a leader by their actions. Everybody’s actions affect the group that they’re involved in.”

LEIGH “Lethal” Matthews has a legendary Australian Rules football career behind him, both on the field and behind the scenes. He played for the Hawthorn Hawks in the Victorian Football League between 1969 and 1985 and was captain of the team for his last five years there. Matthews went on to become head coach at Collingwood for ten years, before coaching the Brisbane Lions from 1999 to 2008. He has been voted the “Best Player of the 20th Century” and inducted into the Legend of Australian Football Hall of Fame – the highest individual honour which can be bestowed upon a football personality. Statistically, Lethal is also one of the most successful AFL coaches of all time.
