Functional Training: The buzz word that is beginning to become old news

That the fitness industry appreciated the need for more movement within exercise programs as an alternative to the isolated bodybuilding approach was definitely a move in the right direction. However, the interpretation of "functional" is becoming twisted as younger or less experienced trainers start to put their own spin on it. 

I'm sure that we have all seen it. A client standing on a Bosu ball doing bicep curls. This is not a functional exercise. It is an isolated muscular contraction that a Personal Trainer has amped up to keep their unknowing client interested (and forking out their hard earned dollars).
