Before & after

  • Amanda lost 14kg in 12 weeks

  • Post 12 Week Challenge Essay-

Amanda came 2nd in the Genesis YNB 12 Week Challenge

WOW where do I start! I'm so pumped and I can SEE results.
Seeing my before and after photos, I can see a massive change and I have so much more energy. I go to the gym almost every day now. I do classes I never thought I would do on my own or even try. I have so much more confidence in myself.
I didn't quite make my goal of 99kg but WOW I have lost so much in weight and centimetres. I worked out I lost 53cm, no wonder I and everyone else can see such a change. I have dropped 2 dress sizes, going from a size 22-24 to a size 18, my clothes are swimming on me. I feel so much better and I am liking what I see in the mirror. I can still see a lot more improvements to be made but what I have achieved in 12 weeks I never thought I could do it, and I have. My friends, work mates, personal trainer and everyone else are noticing my weight loss. It is so encouraging when people make comments, it makes me more and more pumped to get going.
I'm so pumped now that I won't be stopping. I still have my goal of getting to 99kg (my first goal).
I would like to say thanks to my personal trainer Jess. She has been so amazing and so supportive through all of this. She is so proud of me which makes me so happy. I have tried so hard and everyone can see this. I am continuing my personal training with Jess even after the challenge as I can see that its really helping me.

Preparing for action

Emily Friedel

A good warm up before training is crucial for injury prevention – this is something that most people who exercise are aware of.  Unfortunately, a lot of people still don’t know what constitutes a “good” warm up.  Go to any fun run, marathon, local soccer game, gym or swimming pool and you’ll still see people using static stretches to prepare for whatever activity they intend to do in the near future.

Let’s be very clear about this: static stretching before exercise is not only useless, it actually reduces athletic performance.  You’re probably better off doing no warm up than doing static stretches before physical activity.
