About me

My journey started one summer when some holiday photos made me realise I need to change my lifestyle. I was really unhappy and had changed from a really active teenager to an overweight adult. Having a desk job and busy lifestyle wasn’t going to be my excuse, it was me who became overweight. With some hard work I managed to get from 110kg to 90 in only 4 months. The feeling this gave me helped all areas of my life, I had set myself a goal and achieved it.

If I could do it, anyone could. I went to the Australian Institute of Fitness and began studying to become a personal trainer, I wanted to help people reach their goals just like I had done. The people where awesome and what you learn is a great starting point.

Everything happens for a reason and with thanks to some really good people I was given a chance to work the gym floor at Genesis Bentley. I was quickly realising that this was the job for me and got coached by some really good people. I couldn't be happier, you only get out of something what you put into it and you’ll only achieve your goals if you really want it.

That’s where I started, but nowadays things are a bit different. My own training has changed from weight loss to weightlifting and the hobby training once was has become a lot more serious.

My training goals revolve around Olympic weightlifting but I still also train to improve my physic, strength, conditioning, flexibility and stability. I’m passionate about this type of training for a lot of reasons, the most important thing to me is getting people to move correctly and then develop their physical capacity.



  • I first met Clayton when I joined Genesis and he gave me a program I continued to use and could build on over the next 8 months. In that time I lost weight and gained muscle mass.

    About twelve months ago Clayton started coaching me in the Olympic lifts. The progression through increasing mobility, co-ordination and strength building that Clayton had me do was fantastic. Over time I became more and more confident and areas that I considered weakness previously became strengths. As my back got stronger and more mobile any pains or problems went away.

    I’d recommend Clayton for anyone looking to start exploring the Olympic lifts. His techniques and programs will guide you through a progression in a safe way and give you the confidence to Snatch or C&J all day long.

  • After recently moving to Australia and finding a suitable gym for myself, Clayton called me up. We met and discussed my current training plans, nutrition, mobility concerns and past / present injuries. With shoulder, chest and quad issues (to say the least) we were straight into mobility and rehab, in minimal time we had achieved major difference's in all areas and continue to see constant improvement. I've now trained with Clayton for 6 months and his passion for Olympic weightlifting has definitely worn off, coming from minimal experience in this style of training we have progressed so far in such a small amount of time. I've found I have a lot more determination in each session and am working towards my goal of weightlifting competitions. Clayton's always on time, organised and brings a positive mindset to every session! I look forward to many more training sessions and seeing what we can achieve.

  • I've been training in various forms for years. I've dabbled in everything from bodybuilding to calisthenics training. I've always been interested in being as strong as possible, but every time I start getting decent numbers I end up hurting myself and have to get physical therapy, then start again from square one. Clayton has found my weak areas and strengthened them while critiquing my technique for all my lifts. I'm now as strong as I have ever been and have no ongoing pain. The next few months I'm on target to get some all time PBs and feeling great!
